Are you looking for a food that will give you an abundance of B12? How about a fish that offers you a daily intake of Vitamin D without having to take the daily supplements? How about Omega-3s, Protein and Calcium? Well if you are looking for a food that will give you all of these nutrients plus more look no further than sardines. Yes, I said sardines. I used to eat them a lot when I was young. My dad introduced me to Sardines when I was about seven years old. The last time I even had a taste for Sardines was the day that I found out that I was pregnant with my daughter (that was years ago). Anyhow, the other day I was in the grocery store and I strolled past the canned meat aisle and there were the sardines right on the shelf. I picked up a can that had the sardines packed in olive oil and went home to give it another try.


The results are in…….I still like sardines. I love the taste and prefer sardines in oil instead of just plain water. I eat them right out of the can. I knew sardines were good for you but I did not know the number of different nutrients that it offers you. I thought that it was just packed with Omega-3s. Who knew that sardines help lower cholesterol and have an abundance of vitamin D! For those of you, that like fish but have yet to taste Sardines, I recommend that you give it a try. Try the sardines in oil or the red sauce flavor that is available. Or try placing your sardines on flat bread with avocado and salsa. In order to get the full nutritional value that you need for your body, I recommend that you eat a can 3-4 times a week.
